Yehi'am Fortress is located on the grounds of Kibbutz Yehi'am, which was founded in 1946 by pioneers who first lived in the fortress ruins.
During the War of Independence the pioneers were besieged behind these huge walls; visitors can see their restored defensive positions, which tell their story.
Gamla has it all: a dramatic saga, rugged landscape and magnificent vistas to match, and a wonderful foray into nature, including a waterfall and great raptors soaring overhead. Gamla is the site of a Jewish city founded in the second-century CE Hasmonean times.

Rabbi Isaac Luria (1534-1572) is the greatest figure of Safed’s golden age of Kabbalah. The rabbi, also known as the Ari (an acrostic that also means “lion” in Hebrew), left his mark deeply on the city and on the study of the great mystic work, the Zohar.
